Artist statement;
As a solo mother/carer, the impact on my art is a layered and complex one.
I’m someone who creates work ‘in the moment’ and intuitively, so there can be frustration when a moment passes me by.
Taking five minutes to step outside with my camera, this scene struck me and felt like it summed up where I am: the deflated pool I’ve yet to put away, the borrowed ladder I’ve yet to return, the unwatered plants, the figs I forgot to pick now lost in the overgrown grass spilling over what was once a sandpit, and the garage I’ve been wanting to convert to a studio. The lack of time, money and mental energy all reflected back to me in this scene.
